About Scholar Co.

Scholar Co. was created in order to provide students with substantive and advisory solutions, directed at and responsive to every aspect of the admissions process. To that end, Scholar's instructors are well-trained to provide academic tutoring, test prep, college advising, and college application assistance.

We strive to offer these services in a supportive atmosphere conducive to productivity and success. At our offices in Lower Pacific Heights, not only will students find instructors available to answer their questions and provide guidance, but they will also have access to a library full of educational and college reference material.

Our Capabilities

Since its inception in 2005, Scholar has served over 350 students & families in the Bay Area. Our educational consultants have helped place students in high schools and colleges throughout the country, and our instructors have worked with students from Kindergarten through College, with experience in the following subject areas: English, Analytical & Creative Writing, U.S. History, European History, Math (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, College Essay, SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, SSAT, HSPT, & ISEE.

Scholar Co. is located in Lower Pacific Heights, at the corner of Laguna & Pine Streets. We are within walking distance of Convent of the Sacred Heart, Stuart Hall, The Hamlin School, University High School, The Town School, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, and Jewish Community High School.

Credentials & Background

Bridget Allen

Scholar Co. is owned and operated by Bridget Allen. Bridget is a 1999 graduate of The Hotchkiss School and a 2003 graduate of Yale University. One of seven children, Bridget has been tutoring and advising on high school and college admissions since her time in New Haven.

Since Scholar Co.'s inception in 2005, Bridget has established several years of full-time experience as an educational consultant and private college counselor in the Bay Area. She specializes in college placement and admissions and has extensive background in standardized test preparation, writing instruction, high school advising, and various levels of academic tutoring.

Katherine Koerber

Katy graduated in 2002 from University of Wisconsin -- Madison, and in 2006, finished her MFA in Creative Writing from the California College of the Arts. A native Midwesterner, Katy lived in France, Ireland, and New York before settling in San Francisco.

Katy has extensive tutoring and teaching experience and has been working in education since 1998. Katy specializes in academic enrichment for students in elementary and high school. She also works extensively with students with learning differences and ADD/ADHD, helps students compose application essays, and prepares students for standardized tests.

Ann Moon

Ann was an English/Spanish double major at Wellesley College, and received her Masters degree in Teaching and Curriculum from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2003. A native of New York, Ann has been an SF transplant for the past five years.

She has extensive experience in tutoring students of all ages in a wide range of subjects in the language arts and social sciences, with a particular emphasis on writing, reading, critical interpretation, Spanish, organization, time management and study skills.

At Scholar Co., she specializes in standardized test preparation, essay writing instruction, the college application process, and academic support. Ann has also taught college preparatory English and literature classes in high school as well as ESL in K-8 classes, and utilizes skills from those experiences in the classroom to enhance one- on-one tutoring.
