Academic Tutoring Academic tutoring can serve as a critical link in the educational process. Not only can it help a student to improve his/her grades and solidify his/her academic foundation in key subject areas, but it can also lend to greater self-confidence and improved organizational & study skills. The key to a successful result is a dynamic, productive relationship between student and instructor. At Scholar, we strive to find the perfect match for every student and thus maximize the net benefit. Pricing: $85/hour for coursework instruction *Please note that we are always willing to accommodate special needs. Please inquire directly should you have a particular question or concern. Kindergarten through 8th Grade Private tutoring is available in all subject areas for students in grades K-8, including, but not limited to: reading, math, grammar, writing, vocabulary, science, & social studies. High School & College Private tutoring is available in most subject areas for students in high school & college, including, but not limited to: analytical & creative writing, literature, research, grammar, vocabulary, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, U.S. history, European history, biology, chemistry, physics, and Spanish. Skill Building In addition to coursework instruction and assistance, at Scholar, students will find proprietary, skill-building programs that seek to prepare them for high school, college, and beyond. We focus on key academic areas -- namely problem solving & quantitative reasoning, written expression & argumentation, research & analysis, vocabulary expansion, and grammar. |
Virtual Office Hours Scholar Co. now offers weekly virtual office hours via iChat and AIM. Some of the capabilities that students can access during virtual office hours include: -proofreading and editing through screen sharing, a program where we interface with students' computers, type directly into documents, and point out errors on-screen; -voice and video-enabled conversations, where students can see work on-screen or watch us demonstrate an example or problem from the office; -immediate responses and real-time answers to questions. Virtual office hours are currently offered at an introductory rate of $40/week. Students may sign onto a week's office hours at any point during the week. They will also be entitled to receive editing and written feedback to essays outside of office hour blocks. We have priced these services so that students can make unlimited use of virtual office hours during weeks when they have a higher workload. However, students will need to receive parent approval for each fee assessed. Virtual office hours will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. See below for the current schedule.
